Talk, don't type: finding deals with your voice

Typing a proper question on a phone keyboard is genuinely annoying. “Best deal on a front load washing machine under 30000” is a lot of thumb work, and most people shorten it until the question stops being useful.

So just say it instead.

How it works

Press the mic and talk normally. No special phrasing, no command words, no need to speak slowly like you are dictating to a machine. Say it the way you would say it to a friend who knows about this stuff.

It works in Hindi, English and Hinglish, same as typing. “Bhai, ek acha AC chahiye 35 hazaar tak” is a perfectly good question.

When it is genuinely better

  • Hands busy. Cooking, driving, holding a child. Speaking is the only option that works.
  • Long questions. The more detail you give, the better the answer, and speaking detail is much faster than typing it.
  • Thinking out loud. “I want a phone with a good camera, decent battery, under 40 thousand” is a natural sentence and an awful search query.

You still get a proper answer

Speaking the question does not give you a lesser answer. The same price checks, the same coupon and card offer hunting, the same one clear recommendation. It arrives on screen so you can read it properly and tap through to the store.

Try it on something real

The next time you are about to buy something over a couple of thousand rupees, say the question out loud instead of typing it. Most people find the answer better, simply because they included details they would never have bothered typing.
